For Niklas @schnapp5chuss and his family, living in a 1910 tenement house in Solingen, the kitchen became a dialogue between Jugendstil heritage and 1970s Modernism. The heart of this Bel Étage is a kitchen that truly celebrates space. Here, original stained glass windows paint the floor with colored light, creating a backdrop for a design that is both minimal and sculptural. The center of it all is the rounded island, a conscious move to soften the grand geometry of the room. Its curved panels break the austerity of the tall cabinetry, lending the kitchen an artisanal, almost fluid character. “The island was indispensable for communicative cooking sessions and kitchen parties with friends”, emphasizes Niklas. It’s more than just a workspace; it’s a gathering point where the warmth of the Limestone fronts blends seamlessly with the coolness of stone and chrome.
