Organic Kitchen In A Suburban House In Munich

Interiors that captivate with authenticity often have their beginning in the kitchen. For Maria, who lives in a green villa district on the outskirts of Munich, the fascination with curves was the starting point for creating a harmonious and warm interior for her family’s new home.

Closeness in a circle

The kitchen, the true heart of this house, also gained its center in the project – an island with its characteristic curved panels. These organic forms were not just an aesthetic whim, but a conscious decision that defined the entire project. By softening the severity of the lines, the curved panels introduced fluidity and openness to the interior, creating a space that invites free communication and promotes closeness of the household members. Owing to this subtle geometry, the kitchen became an informal foyer of the house, where the first conversations and shared moments begin. The rest of the interior is a harmonious result of decisions made in the kitchen.

“For me, curves have become the essence of kitchen design. Their soft forms on the island make my family’s life flow freely, encouraging closeness and conversation”

Mushroom: timeless elegance

In her search for the right colour palette for the interior, Maria’s leading intention was to create a space with a timeless character. In the kitchen, she chose the soothing shade of Mushroom from the Terra collection, the Modern model. This neutral tone blends in with the surroundings and harmonises with the wooden elements: Natural oak fronts, oak window frames, and light microcement flooring, creating a coherent composition. “I was thinking about how to create a timeless kitchen and this calm shade is the best choice for a project that will stand the test of time,” emphasises Maria. The whole is complemented by a quartz countertop, which, with its semi-transparency and delicate veining, emphasises the elegance of the interior, while at the same time perfectly matching the colour scheme.

Breath of space

Having already had experience in kitchen planning, Maria knew exactly what she needed. She focused on the maximum amount of storage space to convey a clean and uncluttered aura in the entire kitchen. She used a trusted layout based on IKEA cabinets. The monolithic construction of one wall was perfectly integrated into the alcove, which is balanced by the lightness and freedom of the opposite island. This well-thought-out balance allowed all unnecessary elements to be hidden, while maintaining a minimalist and orderly look.

Design consistency

The concept of curves and aesthetic cohesion naturally transferred to other parts of the house. In the bedroom, the same soft lines can be found in the PAX wardrobe, where curved panels and fronts in a gentle shade of Sand and the Modern model discreetly blend into the atmosphere of the interior, encouraging peace and quiet.

Maria’s kitchen is an example of how a well-thought-out design, based on a deep understanding of needs and sensitivity to aesthetics, can create the heart of the home – a space that not only delights with form, but also invites you to a life full of harmony.

How Maria created her interior:

Designing from the center: Using the kitchen as the central starting point for arranging the entire house, which allowed for a coherent connection of every room.

The power of curves: Fluid forms as a leading design motif, consistently introduced not only in the kitchen in the form of curved panels, but also in other rooms, for the unity and harmony of space.

Timeless palette: Using the neutral Mushroom colour for long-lasting aesthetics and harmonious combination with other materials.

Budget and effect optimisation: Combining the functionality of IKEA modules with FRØPT design allowed for a minimalist effect while maximising storage space, resulting in a high-quality kitchen at a reasonable price.
