Bespoke Kitchen: Cover Panels Guide
A modern kitchen has become the very heart of every house, which is where architects start their designing endeavour. It is crucial that the kitchen is properly finished – it sets the vision for the rest of the apartment.
A refined, bespoke kitchen is also viable when using modular cabinets. Kitchen panels, next to fronts, will allow harmony between the style and usability of the space. Their variants, available in our product configurator, have various functions, from masking to decorative. Get to know the solutions they hold.
1/ Side panels: Hidden cabinets
With the side panels, you can mask sides of cabinets and a kitchen island so that they match the colour of the fronts. The default height of the side panels in our configurator reaches to the floor, covering the entire length of the cabinets, including the legs.
The full-height panel also fits to the sides of appliances on condition that the kitchen countertop rests on it. If you prefer the height of the side panel not to cover the legs, personalise the size by subtracting 8 cm – that way you will hide the cabinets and create space for a plinth at the bottom.
Curved panels
Curved panels are a special type of side panels. They allow the shapes to be streamlined and more refined. The rounded end of the cabinets will also enhance the ergonomics of the kitchen. When choosing curves, add 10 cm to the built-in’s length.
Good to know:
1/ Our panels are smooth for each model of veneered and varnished fronts. The exception is the varnished Wave model, where masking and curved panels are available in a milled version.
2/ Panels for the Stripe veneered fronts model are smooth by default. It is possible to produce a milled version to individual order. Contact us to get an estimate.
3/ The thickness of the panels corresponds to the fronts in a given model.
2/ Filling panels: Custom-made solid
Filling panels are a key component while moulding the final shape of the kitchen. They are perfect for managing free spaces between cabinets, a wall or ceiling. By hiding the gaps, the kitchen becomes that of coherent shape, and the uniformity of the development will add character to it.
3/ Cover panels: Details matter
When placing upper cabinets, it is worth paying attention to a colour of the body and adding a masking panel in the colour of the fronts underneath. This finish will make the entire space more refined.
This type of panel can also be used to mask the lighting strip to obtain a surface consistent with the rest of the kitchen and shed soft light on the worktop.
4/ Dividers: Harmonious partitioning of the solid
By using dividers from the Norwegian Wood collection, you will achieve an orderly form. The panels are 1.8 cm thick and 20 cm deep, and their height should correspond to the built-in. They are installed between cabinets, so when planning a kitchen, you should add the thickness of the panels to its total length and adjust the dimensions of the countertop. For a consistent look, we recommend extending the panels to the depth of the countertop. When ordering, remember to choose adequately deep side panels.
5/ Corner cabinet strips: Optimal fit
The use of panels for corner cabinets is necessary to maintain their functionality. For a cabinet measuring 128 x 68 cm, we recommend combining standard fronts of 60 x 80 cm with a panel of 20 x 80 cm. At the installation site, you can precisely adjust this panel by cutting it to obtain two masking strips. Not only will the panels fulfil practical functions, but they’ll also add elegance to the corner cabinet.
Good to know:
Panels in the configurator are available in universal sizes. It is also possible to enter your own dimension range. When ordering larger panels, you can cut proper fragments during installation to adjust the dimensions on site.
6/ Custom panels: Creating shelves and a built-in
In addition to a standard purpose of the panels, you can use them to create shelves or a built-in according to your own vision. To adapt the kitchen environment to your individual needs, opt for side panels. By adapting the panels, you will introduce unconventional storage spaces into your design.
Good to know:
Norwegian Wood Collection: The panels are veneered on both sides, including the edges.
Terra and Memphis Collection: Lacquered panels are finished with white laminate on the inside. In addition to the filling panels, they have extra 10 cm covered with coloured varnish at the edge.
